Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Portable hard drives

The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex portable hard drive series are actually devided into three more series – GoFlex Ultra-portable Drive, GoFlex Pro Ultra-portable Drive, and GoFlex Desk External Drive. Here we are going to make a small review of them and talk about their features and specifications.

FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable Drive

These drives are made to be ultra portable (as seen in their name). They have USB 2.0 connectivity, that includes the plug and play feature. They come with a free and easy to use backup software, so you can backup your files. You also are able to upgrade to a better and faster connectivity – USB 3.0, FireWire 800 or eSATA. Throught a special adapter you can also connect to your TV.

The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable drives are available in four capacities – 320GB (STAA320100), 500GB (STAA500100), 750GB (STAA750100), and 1TB (STAA1000100). There are also different colors, but the primary one is black.

This is the pro version of the GoFlex Ultra-portable series. Here we have the same features, but this time the drive is much faster. With the speed of 7200RPM and with an upgrade cable these portable drives shoud be 40% faster than the previous series (according to Seagate).

There is only one capacity available – 500GB. The model is: STAD500400.

FreeAgent GoFlex Desk External Drive

These drives are actually not so portable, but just the fact that they are external is enought to call them portable (if you ask me).

So here we have USB 2.0 connectivity, automatic backups and an encryption software to protect your privacy. There is also an upgrade adapter that gives us faster performace (it must be bought separately).

The capacities are 1TB – STAC1000100 and 2TB – STAC2000100.
